New Telemedicine Clinic Keeps Kids out of the Emergency Room

Chattanooga, TN - Telemedicine offers parents and their pediatricians a new tool to keep children from having to go to the Emergency Room for routine care.  This fall, five telemedicine clinics will open in Hamilton County schools as a result of a partnership between the Pediatric Health Improvement Coalition, Hamilton County Department of Education, and Children’s Hospital at Erlanger.

EDI and the Early Years

EDI and the Early Years

Experience in early childhood impact how the brain develops.  Toxic stress in the first five years results in higher rates of school failure, behavioral problems, obesity, diabetes, and more. But helping children and families early on prevents many of these negative outcomes!! The Early Development Index (EDI) shows us how children are doing across neighborhoods, schools, and cities so we can intervene when we can make a difference!

Build Healthy Places

Build Healthy Places

It takes a community to make a difference for kids. Your neighborhood can support a healthy family or prevent parents from providing a safe and environment for their children. The Early Development Index (EDI) - part of the Transforming Early Childhood Community Systems (TECCS) program - helps map those toxic environments. Read about how a county in Texas is using those results to build a better future for their children!

This is NEVER safe, even for a few minutes.  It can take just 15 minutes for a child in a hot car to suffer life-threatening injuries.  Make sure to always leave your shoe, purse, or cell phone beside the car seat to remind you...

Childhood Obesity

Childhood Obesity

Childhood obesity affects many families, but what can be done to stop it?  The Childhood Healthy Eating and Active Living (HEAL) Clinic at the Children’s Hospital at Erlanger is figuring that out.  The clinic works with families to help them learn to make healthy choices.  Small changes are the key to success.  At the clinic, goals are set with the child and family.  These goals are healthy changes the child and family agree to make to make in order to help reverse obesity.

So what small changes can make a difference?  Think 5-2-1-0!

Childhood Anxiety

Childhood Anxiety
